Unplugged Book Box: Little Nightmares

Before this Little Nightmares box from Unplugged Book Box, I had never ordered a book box. I’d thought about it, dreamed about it, romanticized the opening of a box for which I didn’t know the specific contents ahead of time. Most anything bookish has my attention, and the same goes for anything Halloween themed.

When Unplugged advertised this book box, it was a special Halloween version, but a lighthearted one with products from fun Halloween movies and books like Hocus Pocus and Beetlejuice. Knowing that, I thought I have to have this and sent in an order straight away. And then I waited.

What I’ve learned about book boxes is the monthly themes and included fandoms are generally released to the public about a month in advance of when the boxes will be put together and shipped out, so there’s a bit of waiting involved, but by the time you get the box it should be worth the wait.

Since it was my first book box and I wasn’t super familiar with Unplugged, I checked out their previous boxes via their Instagram account (the tagged photo section is my favorite for this) and noticed they actually have some very well put together boxes. Neat!

Here’s the one I ended up receiving:

The contents are really fun, right?!

If you’re curious about what exactly you’re looking at, you can use this handy card:

Unplugged Little Nightmares Box Contents

These postcard-sized contents lists are included in every box (I’ve ordered more from Unplugged since this one, including their other Halloween-themed box from 2021 - a box with more adult fandoms included), and can really help if you can’t identify to which fandom each item belongs.

I like that with Unplugged boxes they aim to include things you can actually use instead of only fandom-related items that look pretty. (I don’t know about you, but my house only has so much room for new decorations, especially ones I didn’t pick out myself.) So I love, love the wax melts and warmer, and the scent is also lovely.

Lastly, if you check out the bottom of the card you’ll see there’s a few dates and items listed, and those are for a social media photo challenge that Unplugged seems to do every month so subscribers can show off their boxes. (And it helps you to grow your #bookstagram photos if you’re not sure of what to post next!) I’ve seen they give out a free box to winners of these challenges sometimes, but I’m not sure if they do that every month - check out their Instagram to be sure.

Would I buy more Unplugged book boxes?

Spoiler alert: I already have! I think so far I’ve bought… at least 10? And there was only one I didn’t like. More box reveals and reviews to come. :)
