Bloganuary Day 4: Lost Treasure

Another day of January, another day of the WordPress Bloganuary challenge. Today’s prompt asks:

What is a treasure that’s been lost?

Letter writing. Millions (billions?) of text messages are sent per day (including chat programs like discord, signal, whatsapp, etc), yet hardly anyone writes old-fashioned letters to one another.

In a way, I understand why. Text messages are faster, and we live in a modern era marked by instant everything, including communication and gratification.

Plus, with text messages you often know they are received. Letters can get lost in the mail.

However, receiving letters in the mail is such a simple delight. I adore having pen pals with which to exchange letters, and for them I am grateful.
