Book Review: Quests & ODDysseys: The Not Quite Chosen One by Greg J McArthur

Oh my goodness, y’all. This book was incredibly fun!

My favorite character was Murblo, a mistake-prone drunken wizard, who set off a string of hilarious adventures by making one very large mistake: he misidentified the “chosen one” as David, the book’s main character. David is nothing like the predictions had said - he’s not strong, he’s not particularly wise, and he’s… well, average. Unremarkable. And definitely not ready for a ‘let’s save the world together’ kind of adventure.

Hijinks ensue throughout this fantasy story, and let me tell you, they are absolutely hilarious. I can’t even count how many times I laughed out loud at this book - I was absolutely cackling, so much so that my family gave me curious looks. The plot was great also, not only for its humor but its wit, and I really appreciated McArthur’s lighthearted fantasy story through and through - this was such a great read.

I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series so very much. I already have it on Kindle, and will dive in soon!
