Monthly Favorites: December 2022

Hi there. It’s time for the final monthly favorites of 2022. I haven’t been great at keeping up with these this year, but I hope to do better next year—it’s always nice to share positive and happy things.

Here are my favorites from December 2022:

Wednesday, the Netflix show

I heard mixed reviews going into this one, but was pleasantly surprised. No, the show doesn’t feature the Addams family much, and yes, it’s a big young plot-wise and contains a love triangle. I found that Wednesday’s angst wore on me a bit, though I still liked her character. My favorite character was Enid, Wednesday’s werewolf roommate, and adored her bright, colorful style.

Hallmark Channel

Every year I subscribe to Hallmark Movies Now for about three months so I can watch all the holiday films. Other streaming services try to recreate the magic of Hallmark movies, but in my opinion, they almost always fail. Hallmark is known for cheesy romance movies with reused plots, and there’s something so comforting about knowing what to expect from a cozy movie. I’ll likely never stop my annual three-month subscription to Hallmark because I just love knowing what I’m going to get from them.

The Spilled Milk Podcast

This is one of my long-time favorite podcasts, but what I find with most podcasts is I can’t listen to them every single week. Sometimes I’ll take weeks or even months off, and that’s exactly what happened with this one. I took a few months off from catching up on new episodes and then had several to choose from, plus play back-to-back while cross stitching. Listen here.

Cross Stitch

This is a new hobby for me this year, and I quite enjoyed working on it again. I’ve only made a few things so far, but I’ve purchased a ton of embroidery floss, hoops, needles, and aida cloth. My next step is to choose my next pattern and start stitching, which I look forward to. The only issue? I’m indecisive about what my next pattern will be, so I haven’t bought one yet. These are the ones I’m considering: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

What were your favorites from 2022?

Katie Rodante

Katie Rodante is a poet and writer obsessed with storytelling and creativity. Her books include Wreathbound, Autumn Reveries, Woodland Witch, and her upcoming novel Fangs and Frosting. When she isn’t writing, she can be found strumming her harp, practicing yoga, or playing games—video or tabletop, not the drama-between-characters kinds she writes in her books. She lives in sunny Dallas, Texas with her husband, two children, and a morkie named Hamphrey.
